Portal Guide

Engine-Mobile will give you access to a Portal, that allows you to view the call & text history, listen to all calls, read all texts, change the settings of internet access, create a block list and limit the times that the phone can be used.

Call Recordings of Mobile Phone Conversations

In the Calls section of your portal, you can see the exact date & time of all calls, who the call was made to or from and a recording of the entire phone call. You have the choice to listen to each call, delete it or download the recording onto your computer if you believe that it could be used as evidence to protect your child or vulnerable person.

If the recording for a call is "Not available" this means that the recipient of the call did not answer, so there is no call to listen to.

If you feel that a person making phone calls to your child's phone should be blocked, this can be easily done by clicking on the number you wish to block and then click on "Add to Block List". If your child attempts to make a call to a number that you have chosen to block, you will not be charged.

Recordings of SMS Messages

In the Text section of your portal, you can see the exact date & time of all texts, who the text was sent to or from and a copy of each message. This is an important part of your portal as a large amount of bullying and abuse can take place over text messages rather than phone calls.

MMS (Picture messages) are completely blocked from being sent to or from the SIM user, as we believe this will help to reduce the risk of your child or vulnerable person being exposed to inappropriate content.

SMS messages deleted from the phone will remain in the Portal for review.

If you feel that a person sending texts to your child's phone should be blocked, this can be easily done by clicking on the number you wish to block and then click on "Add to Block List". If your child attempts to send a text to a number that you have chosen to block, you will not be charged.

Remotely Turning Mobile Data ON or OFF

In the Data section of your portal, you will have full control over your child's Data usage.

When you turn Data ON for your child to use, they will be able to access the internet whilst they are away from a WiFi connection. You will not be able to see what websites they have visited, as this is out of our control, but you can limit the types of websites that can be visited by changing the settings on the phone itself.

When you turn your child's Data OFF, they will only be able to access the internet through a WiFi connection, which we will not bill you for. Connecting to the WifI connection in your own home, is the safest way for your child to use the internet on their phone, as the majority of internet providers allow you to limit the types of websites that can be visited through your WiFi connection.

Restricting a Mobile Phone Between Certain Hours

The Phone user is always able to contact & be contacted by the Home Numbers, allowing the user to always be in contact with home. You have the option to turn call recording ON for the Home Numbers (via the Record switch next to each number), which will make calls to these numbers chargeable at the normal rate.

The Time-Restricted Mode, allows you to limit the times that your child can make and receive calls and texts. If you have the Time-Restricted Mode turned on the phone will only work between the Allowed From & Allowed Until times. If the Time-Restricted Mode is turned off, the phone will be able to communicate all of the time. There are no restrictions on how often the times can be changed.

When the phone is entered into Ultra Secure Mode the user will only be able to send texts, make calls and receive calls from the Home Numbers and numbers in the Safe List. The Safe & Blocked list can be edited by clicking on "Manage Block/Safe List".

The Specific Word Alerts allow the account holder to be notified if the child uses certain words. The account holder can create an unlimited list of words that they wish to be notified for in the trigger words box. When the child uses an alert word or phrase, a text will immediately be sent to the specified number with a link to the portal, to allow you to take appropriate action as soon as possible.

Locating a Mobile Phone Using Geolocation

This will only be available to you, if you purchase the Safe Plan+

The Geolocation part of your portal gives you the power to track the location of your child's phone. The location of the phone WILL NOT be shown exactly, as the majority of mobiles don't have enough technology to be able to identify their exact location using GPS satellites. The phone will not be required to use any app or be connected to the internet but the Engine-Mobile SIM will need to be in the phone, which will need to be turned on.

The accuracy of Geolocation will vary depending on the Mobile Tower the phone is attached to, the terrain and other factors such as speed and direction of travel, but typically the accuracy will be between 500 -1500m.

Topping Up a Balance on an Account

In order to make calls, send texts ( apart from when communicating with the Home Numbers ) and use internet data, you will need to top up your account.

This can be easily done by clicking on "Top Up Balance", entering how much you would like to add to your account and the details of the card you wish to use. You can top up your account at any time, and the balance is applied immediately.
